The Team:
S&P Global’s Upstream and Midstream Energy Data & Research Team conducts primary and secondary research on global energy assets across exploration, production, transportation, and power infrastructure. The team gathers, validates, and maintains datasets on wells, fields, pipelines, power plants, and transmission networks, along with ownership and operational relationships.
The team is responsible for handling client data queries and delivering high-value insights. It manages the collection, mapping, and maintenance of proprietary and vendor data, converting inputs from regulatory filings, industry sources, and company disclosures into actionable intelligence. This data supports client decision-making across energy markets and operations.

The Impact:
In this role, you will work closely with global teams to ensure high data quality, accuracy, and timeliness. You will gain strong exposure to energy data research, analysis, and industry practices.
You will be part of a collaborative and experienced team, contributing to key datasets that power client products and analytics, while building domain expertise in upstream and midstream energy.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform data extraction, validation, and analysis for wells, pipelines, power plants, and transmission assets.
  • Research energy companies, operators, and infrastructure projects across regions.
  • Analyze regulatory filings, technical reports, and industry publications for relevant data.
  • Track and add new wells, assets, and energy developments into databases.
  • Work on datasets related to land records, contracts, and associated operational logs.
  • Communicate with industry stakeholders (calls/emails) to validate and enrich data.
  • Resolve client queries within timelines and ensure accuracy.
  • Identify new data sources and improve collection processes.
  • Maintain databases by updating information in standard formats.
  • Collaborate with teams on deliverables, workload, and data quality improvements.


Requirements and Skills:

  • Degree in Geology, Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Power Engineering.
  • Strong ability to work with wells data, power plant and transmission data, along with logs linked to land records and contracts.
  • Good analytical thinking and attention to data accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple datasets and research tasks efficiently.
  • Proficiency in Excel and MS Office tools.
  • Comfortable working in flexible/rotational shifts. (10- 7 PM IST/ 2-11 PM IST)
