About this role

For one of our clients in the Dutch energy sector, we are looking for an experienced Data Engineer to develop and maintain scalable data solutions supporting data-driven decision-making and the energy transition.

You will work with modern cloud and data technologies and collaborate with Data Scientists, Analysts, Architects, Product Owners and business stakeholders.

Your responsibilities:

  • Design, build and maintain scalable data pipelines and data platforms.
  • Develop ETL/ELT processes and data integrations.
  • Transform complex datasets into reliable and reusable data products.
  • Build and maintain cloud-based data solutions.
  • Ensure data quality, reliability, security and performance.
  • Work with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical data solutions.
  • Collaborate with Data Scientists, Analysts, Architects and other engineering teams.
  • Contribute to data-platform modernisation and cloud migration projects.
  • Implement automated testing and CI/CD practices.
  • Help establish and improve data-engineering standards and best practices.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or similar role.
  • Experience within the Dutch energy, utilities, renewable-energy or infrastructure sector.
  • Strong knowledge of Python and SQL.
  • Experience developing ETL/ELT pipelines.
  • Experience with Azure or another major cloud platform.
  • Experience with modern data platforms such as Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse or Snowflake.
  • Understanding of data modelling, data quality and data governance.
  • Experience working in Agile and/or DevOps environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent Dutch and English communication skills and the ability to work with both technical and business stakeholders.
  • Relevant cloud or data-engineering certifications are a plus, particularly Azure, Databricks or cloud-data-platform certifications.
