The Opportunity

Join Hitachi Energy’s Research Center in Krakow as a Research Scientist in Advanced Material Characterization, Application and Modeling and contribute to the development of next-generation technologies for the energy sector. Working within a multidisciplinary team of materials scientists, engineers, and researchers, you will drive innovation in material characterization, testing, and predictive modeling for high-voltage and energy applications.

In this role, you will combine advanced experimental methods with numerical modeling to generate valuable insights into material behavior and support the development of more reliable, efficient, and sustainable products. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of research and industrial application while collaborating with global experts, academic partners, and product development teams.

How You Will Make an Impact

  • Lead and contribute to R&D projects focused on advanced material characterization, application, and predictive modeling

  • Develop and implement innovative experimental methods, including non-destructive testing techniques, to assess material performance under realistic operating conditions

  • Identify and characterize critical material properties and translate experimental findings into engineering-relevant data and insights

  • Build and validate numerical material models, supporting simulation-driven product development and engineering decision-making

  • Collaborate closely with product development teams to enable the effective application of advanced materials in industrial products

  • Drive knowledge transfer and strengthen internal expertise in material characterization, qualification, and application methodologies

  • Explore emerging technologies, digital tools, and AI/ML approaches to enhance material modeling and prediction capabilities

  • Promote innovation through technical publications, patents, conference participation, and collaboration with external research partners

Your Background

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline

  • Proven experience in material characterization, experimental testing, and application of material data in engineering or industrial environments

  • Strong knowledge of numerical modeling methods (e.g., FEM), material behavior modeling, parameter identification, and model validation

  • Experience with complex material systems, multi-physics phenomena, and advanced data analysis; Python, MATLAB, or AI/ML experience is an advantage

  • Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary and international teams, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken; experience with industrial collaborations or research partnerships is a plus
