DRIVES the strategy and roadmap for GEICO’s innovation. LEADS the Research and Innovation team to identify and develop innovative projects for the company while staying up to date on cutting-edge data analytics and technology.

Essential Functions:

  • INTERVIEWS and/or APPROVES job applicants for employment. CONDUCTS and/or REVIEWS associate performance appraisals. INITIATES or APPROVES salary adjustments, performance ratings, and other personnel changes. COUNSELS associates and TAKES disciplinary action or TERMINATES the employment of associates as appropriate.
  • DEVELOPS multi-year strategy for innovation strategy and roadmap and LEADS its execution.
  • LEADS the research of new business concepts, new products, new technologies, new data, and AI/ML methods, and STAYS on the cutting-edge of innovation of the insurance industry.
  • WORKS with different functional teams, IDENTIFIES and ENCOURAGES innovation opportunities, and TRANSLATES business needs to R&I projects. DESIGNS resource allocation processes to take potentially innovations forward from the seed stage to development.
  • DESIGNS resource allocation processes, LEADS the end-to-end innovation cycle, and DELIVERS the solution.
  • TRACKS the progress and MONITORS the outcomes of key projects. ADJUSTS as necessary.
  • DEVELOPS, OWNS and ALLOCATES a yearly budget to fund ideas and innovations.
  • ENCOURAGES a culture of research excellence, experimentation, and innovation in the department.
  • PREPARES department business plans, staffing projections and budget
  • REQUISITIONS supplies and materials necessary for efficient operation.
  • REVIEWS plans and budgets periodically to achieve cost reduction where possible.
  • ADHERES to the Code of Conduct, company policies, and operating principles.
  • MEETS attendance standard at business location to perform necessary job functions and to facilitate interaction with subordinates and management.

Meets the requirements specified below.

  • Must be able to, with or without accommodation, perform the essential functions which include, but are not limited to seeing, hearing, typing, and speaking
  • Must be able to speak in a clear, empathic, and professional manner by telephone
  • Must be able to follow complex instructions, resolve conflicts or facilitate conflict resolution, and have strong organization/priority setting skills
  • Must be able to multi-task
  • Must be able to learn and apply large amounts of technical and procedural information
  • Must be willing to travel up to 5% of the time
  • Must have the following education and experience:
  • BA/BS required in Economics, Statistics, Operations Research, Mathematics, or related field
  • Master’s/PhD preferred
  • 7+ years of data analytics and data science related experience
  • 3+ years of experience at leadership roles

Annual Salary

$150,000.00 - $300,000.00

The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
